With the digital age being full of texts, emails, phone calls, and social media, we find ourselves struggling to personally engage with others. In an article from Inc.com, Marcel Schwantes advocates for a transition to more traditional ways of communicating. Schwantes writes that we need to step “out from behind our digital comfort zones to deal directly with the unpredictability of human emotions”. Stepping out of our digital comfort zone is “often the quickest route in cutting through conflict or setting clear expectations with intention, if you're a leader”. In this article, Schwantes addresses: - The Foundation for Building Strong Relationships - The Importance of Improving Your Active Listening Skills - 8 Things You Can do to Improve These Skills In addition, this article contains a quick video with Russell Simmons that addressed how to have conversations that inspire change. According to Schwantes, “There are certain situation that call for us to have human-to-human interactions, to speak and listen authentically and communicate that which could otherwise get lost or not be conveyed through digital communication”.
