Employee Spotlight – Taylor Williams

Where did you go to college?
I graduated from the University of South Carolina. Go Gamecocks!

What year did you join Scott and Company?  
I started out as an intern in January of 2019. I became a full time associate in the Tax and Advisory department in May of 2020. 

Why did you choose Scott and Company?
The overall environment of the firm. Scott and Company provides a great work-life balance for its employees. The firm also has an annual firm outing which is one of my favorite aspects of the firm. It is a great way to get to know other people in the firm outside of the department you work in. 

Give a summary of background work experience and tell about your current responsibilities at the firm.
As a staff accountant I have various responsibilities which help me to expand my knowledge and skills as I grow in my career. I assist with bookkeeping, payroll, QuickBooks, sales tax, and of course various types of tax returns (including individuals, partnerships/corporations, non-profits, etc.) As a previous intern, I also help in training any new interns. 

What do you enjoy most about living in Columbia?
Columbia is a great central location in South Carolina. It makes it easy to take day trips or weekend trips for a quick vacation. I also love going to Soda City on Saturdays!

If you had unlimited resources, where would you plan to take your next vacation and why?  
My husband and I have been dreaming of a trip to Belize. It is definitely at the top of our list of places to travel to for fishing, exploring the rainforest, and sightseeing.

What interesting fact would you most like your readers to know about you?
I used to coach kids in gymnastics and tennis.
