Our Former Managing Member – Don Mobley, CPA
Don Mobley, CPA served as the firm’s managing member from the time of Randy Scott’s passing in 2012 until October 1, 2023, at which time he transferred his role of managing member to John Price, CPA. Don joined Scott and Company in 2002 and was a leading force in developing the firm’s audit practice—advising clients on financial and business matters and recruiting, counseling, managing, and developing professional staff. He provided services for some of the firm’s largest audit clients. At the time of his retirement, Don’s public accounting career had spanned over 38 years. He has several years of experience working for two international accounting firms and while at one of them, he served as the senior on the first-ever statewide audit of the State of South Carolina and continued to serve in various roles on that audit for many years. He also served as a manager on the first-ever statewide GAAP and single audit of the State of South Carolina. Don was a select reviewer for several years, reviewing ACFRs under the GFOA’s certificate program, and has assisted many of our clients in retaining the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting issued by the GFOA.
Don accepted the managing member role at a time when the firm needed him the most, and he continued with Randy’s vision, which was to start an accounting firm that offered the quality of service of the larger firms at lower rates. Under his direction, Scott and Company continued to grow providing accounting, tax, and consulting services for small to large organizations in South Carolina and beyond. He had an open-door policy and was well-respected by his peers and staff. For all of this, we are thankful to Don for his friendship and leadership, and we wish him all the best!
